Subomi is an Of Counsel at Smith & Partners LP. He serves as Head of the Firm's Corporate, Commercial and Finance Practice Group, and the Shipping, Aviation, Logistics and Transportation Practice Group.
He is also Co-Chair of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group and the Firm's Energy and Natural Resources Practice.
Subomi has advised and represented clients across a broad spectrum of industries, including Oil & Gas, Extractives & Mining, Energy, Finance, Shipping, Aviation, Transportation and Logistics, Real Estate and Construction, and Entertainment and Media.
His versatile expertise covers real estate and construction finance, project and infrastructure, public-private partnerships, corporate and project finance, oil & gas transactions, energy and asset finance, dispute resolution, and electoral litigation.
He has provided legal advice and representation in several complex maritime matters, including vessel repossession, general average claims, vessel hire and cargo disputes, and energy-related conflicts. He also advises on the financing of vessels and aircraft.
Subomi has appeared in numerous landmark proceedings before superior courts in Nigeria, as well as before domestic and international arbitration tribunals. He has acted for a wide range of clients, including multinational corporations, government agencies, NGOs, and political entities.
Beyond his legal practice, Subomi is an accomplished legal writer, with several articles published in leading journals, including the Maritime Forum Journal and the Nigerian Bar Association (Lagos Branch) Law Journal. His published scholarship reflects the same analytical rigour that characterises his courtroom advocacy.
